Football Recap: Broncos Edge Hapless Jets in Low-Scoring Battle
In a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Broncos managed to secure a close victory over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter scoring strike and kicker Wil Lutz kicked the game-winning decisive three-pointer to seal the ugly win.
Defensive Display Seals Contest
Despite registering nine sacks versus Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 after giving up a two-point play in the third quarter. Interestingly, the Jets could only produce a mere 82 offensive yards during the contest.
Nix, who went 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, engineered a decisive 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's 27-yard field goal with approximately five minutes left.
Historic Difficulties for Jets Offense
Despite their horrendous offensive display, the Jets maintained the ball with a opportunity to score a potential winning score. However Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 after head coach Aaron Glenn chose to go for it instead of calling on kicker Nick Folk for a difficult field-goal attempt.
The Jets quarterback had difficulties throughout, completing just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York ended up with minus-10 passing yards, the lowest in any contest since 1998.
"The aerial attack was non-existent," the coach commented after the game.
